The Mysterious Disappearance of Flight MH370

This post is about a much more recent conspiracy theory that took the world by storm and baffled many people. Along with the conspiracies, I'll also be talking about the overall strangeness of this whole situation. The Malaysian Airlines flight 370 was a passenger flight carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members. It was planned to be flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on the 8th of March, 2014. The flight was about 38 minutes into its journey and above the South China Sea when it suddenly dropped out of Air Traffic Control radar screens but was still being tracked by military radar. This kept on for about one hour in which the flight was seen to maintain its proper flight path until it suddenly took a mystery U-turn, shortly after which it left radar range about 370 km northwest of Malaysia. After going off the military radar, the flight was never heard of or seen again and nobody on board was found.

After this disappearance, a massive search began which was the most costly of its kind to have ever taken place. It began on the 18th of March and approximately 20 ships and hundreds of aircraft were used to cover about 4,600,000 km2 all across southeast Asia. The search was mainly shifted to the Southeast Indian Ocean after some time and covered various measures such as a sonar search of the seafloor in search of debris that may have sunk down. Over the next few months, various underwater searches took place across the estimated crash site of the flight but other than some small amounts of debris nothing else was found. The search was officially stopped on the 17th of January 2017 only to later be resumed by various private companies who are still keeping it up even now.

Just initially looking at this whole situation is bewildering to think about because in today's time of technological advancement wherein we have advanced tracking, radar, and satellite systems the thought of a whole plane disappearing is incomprehensible. This is what leads to there being an air of mystery and conspiracy surrounding this because many people believe that there has to be something larger or different going on as if a normal plane crash had occurred there wouldn't be so many discrepancies. Many things like the sudden change of flight path, the lack of the plane's wreckage, and much more all point to the many theories that revolve around this disappearance out of which I'll be talking about the 2 which I found the most compelling and popular.

The first theory, believed by many people is that the plane was hijacked by some rougue organization and taken the plane to a remote island. This theory has been backed by many conspiracy theorists and has even come up in various news outlets. There are many ideas as to who might have done this ranging from governments to the plane being electronically hijacked but after looking at them all the basic terrorist group hijack seems the most probable. Many things support this such as the plane going off of ATF radars and then suddenly changing its flight plan. The lack of any further communication also points to a possibility that there may have been a deliberate attempt from the plane to not be located by authorities. Of course, many things go against this theory out of which 2 things are very convincing. The first thing is that some amount of debris was found during the search which leads us to believe that there must have been a crash of some sort and that the plane did not
land safely. Along with this, the possibility has been explored by government authorities and out of the various possible landing sites the plane was not found or seen to be travelling to any of them.

The other popular theory regarding this disappearance is that the plane was shot down possibly by
some government or non-government organization. The people who back this theory support it since planes have been shot down in the past, for example, Iran Air Flight 655 by the United States in 1988. Strangely and providing more backing to this claim, another Boeing 777 Passenger flight of Malaysian Airlines was shot down over Ukraine by Pro Russian separatists in Ukraine a few months after the disappearance of MH370. Although this theory was initially very popular, it faced a large amount of backlash from news and other sources and many governments denied having any involvement in such an attack on a plane or knowledge of anything related to it.

In my personal opinion, I don't believe that the plane was shot down as something of that calibre would have been very difficult to keep a secret from the world and would also not explain many strange occurrences in the flight. On the other hand, I do think that there may have been some sort of hijacking which caused the plane to turn off its communications and go off the radar. This would explain many things in the initial strangeness of the flight although I don't believe that the flight was able to safely land as this theory claims.
I personally believe that some unrelated problems must have taken place such as a fire or engine failure which would have caused the flight to crash. This would explain both the strange behaviour of the flight path and also why debris was found.

    1. I just checked out your site and its an amazing initiative! I'll be sure to keep up to date on the MH370 and its location updates through your website.

    2. Pieces of MH370 were recovered from a beach in Sri Lanka as well as I believe a couple of other beaches around Asia, I don't have links but the information is available. As well as a more common theory was the flight plunging directly into the open ocean at a very high rate of speed. Reports and investigations have been steering away from the Diego Garcia theory.

    3. I do agree with the theory that the flight must have crashed into the ocean but the reason I back the possibility of some sort of hijacking is because of the lack of communications and the change in flight path the flight took.

  2. There is another conspiracy theory that people talk about. Same theory as the hijack theory but the actual perpetrator is probably from US government. Almost all the passenger are chinese nationals (153 people). So theory goes like this, the US government pressured the Malaysian Government (Najib Administration at that time) to involved in this hijack operation. They wanted some sort of advanced technology from the chinese scientist (semiconductor companies worker) so they hijack the plane and hid it somewhere in India ocean. The involvement of the US government are the one who help in cover up the situation.

    1. Wow, that's a theory I haven't heard of. It does seem quite interesting and would explain the cover up but kind of stretches the possibility of a hijacking. I'll be sure to read all the details related to it!
