Octavius, The Iced Ghost Ship

Image
Stock Image of a similar-looking Ship The Octavius and it's Mystery This is the tale of a mysterious ghost ship and arguably also one of the most famous. The story begins in 1761 when a three-masted schooner (a ship), Octavius departed from London for China. This trip was quite uneventful and went along smoothly with the Octavius successfully arriving in China in 1762. They unloaded their cargo and were heading back to the UK when the captain noticed that the weather was unusually warm. Due to this, the captain gambled on a return through the treacherous and then little known, Northwest Passage. The ship left but never ended up reaching the UK and it was assumed that they had fallen prey to the treacherous and icy Northwest Passage. The story of the Octavius continues again on October 11, 1775, when it was seen again. A whaling ship called the Herald was working along the west coast of Greenland when they spotted the Octavius floating in the water. They tried contacti...

The Mummified Bog People

Image
Image of the Tollund Man, the most well-preserved bog body What is a Bog Body? This mystery is more of a creepy one and involves human corpses and mummies. A bog body is a human corpse that has been mummified in a peat bog through natural and environmental elements present in the bog. It is caused by the unique physical and biochemical composition of the bogs. While it's difficult to exactly say how many bog bodies there are, the number is surely in the hundreds. These bodies, sometimes known as bog people, have been found all over the world as well as dating back to different periods, for example, some have been dated to around 8000 BCE while some near the Second World War. While there is such a level of differentiation between these bog bodies, the unifying factor among them is that they have all been found in peat bogs and preserved to a decent extent. Due to the effect of peat, these bog bodies are preserved in a very unique and different way, they often maintain their...

The Secret Nazi Weapon, Die Glocke

Image
Just a Nazi Swastika Stock Photo. What is Die Glocke? A place where many conspiracies and legends have raised in both conspiracy forums, as well as popular culture, is Nazi Germany. Germany at that time was claimed to be conducting many experiments with various things beyond the grasp of science at the time and not many people knew about any of it due to the levels of secrecy maintained by the Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler. Today's conspiracy theory is exactly one of that and is about a secret project the Nazis were claimed to be developing. The "Die Glocke" ("The Bell" in English) was a top-secret Nazi device or weapon of sorts that they were developing during the Second World War. Many people say that Nazis planned to use the Bell as a leading weapon in Germany's attempted rise to greatness. The bell was also commonly referred to as “wunderwaffe,” or “wonder weapon” in English. The weapon had a wide bottom and a narrow top with smooth edges just like ...
